Fall Joy List: Keep the Seasonal Joy Going with a New Bucket List

Joy isn’t just a fleeting emotion—it’s a practice. When we make intentional space for it, joy grounds us, lifts us, and reminds us of what truly matters when life feels busy or heavy. By weaving simple, joyful rituals into the rhythm of our days, we create little pockets of magic that carry us through the season.

“Joy does not simply happen to us. We have to choose joy and keep choosing it every day.” — Henri Nouwen

This fall, I invite you to choose joy again and again. Here’s a bucket list of simple ways to savour the season.

Fall Joy List

  1. Go for a long walk in a place with colourful leaves.

  2. Make a hot apple cider or your favourite fall drink.

  3. Light a candle that smells like cinnamon or pumpkin spice.

  4. Bake an apple crisp or pumpkin bread.

  5. Make a cozy fall playlist.

  6. Have a classic fall movie night with blankets and tea—You’ve Got Mail, Sleepless in Seattle, or your favourite Halloween flick.

  7. Journal about what you’re grateful for this season—what do you love about fall?

  8. Swap your wardrobe over to fall—bring out your favourite sweaters, scarves, jackets, and boots.

  9. Learn something new that brings you joy—knitting, painting, pottery, playing music, or even a new language.

  10. Visit a farmer’s market and enjoy the fall produce.

  11. Read a book outside under a tree with blankets and coffee/tea—or by a bonfire if you can!

  12. Host a soup night or fall potluck with friends.

  13. Go on a scenic drive to see the fall colours.

  14. Do a puzzle or play board games on a rainy day.

  15. Go for an evening walk at sunset.

  16. Roast pumpkin seeds.

  17. Plan a “slow Sunday” with no plans, just rest.

  18. Make a fall vision board for the season ahead using Pinterest or magazines.

  19. Release five things (big or small) from your home—sell them, gift them, or let them go. Clearing clutter feels so good.

  20. Visit a pumpkin patch, corn maze, fall flower farm, or go apple picking.

  21. Take a hot bath in candlelight with some jazz.

Joy doesn’t have to be complicated. Often it’s found in small, everyday rituals—the smell of something baking, the crunch of leaves under your boots, or the quiet of a Sunday morning with nowhere to be.

I’d love to hear from you: What’s on your Fall Joy List? Drop your ideas in the comments or reply to this email so we can inspire each other to keep the joy flowing through the season. 🍁

Warmly,
✨ Bryony
